Game Servers

Post by admin »

I don't think so... But what's the point of having game servers in Lebanon? They are useless for the moment. Local connections are too slow to play most online games, right?

No actually they are online servers, but Lebanese. The latency doesn't get higher than 30 ms in a normal game. So the game runs as if you are playing in a network.

There are at least 70 - 200 players who have played at least once on VISP's game servers. Players from the north, the south, Beirut, el jabal...

The online games supported on VISP include: Counter-Strike, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, Warcraft 3, C&C Generals, Starcraft, Diablo, Quake... There's a forum with superb support, for every game. Even the administrators join the games sometimes.

VISP's the most promising ISP ever to have come to Lebanon.

- The free dial up is a GREAT move. It's definitely the first in Lebanon.
- The fact that they develop local game servers is amazing.

- They finally decided to show priced packages on their website.
- They are not very clear about the areas they cover. They are now saying "Beirut" is covered. All of Beirut? Under what conditions?
- They don't talk about BW limitations (i hope there are none, otherwise that's bad).

I JUST tried to contact them by email & it didn't work: their spam filter is set too high and automatically rejects the emails, this is not correct (specially if this applies to their clients). I know IDM used to do that on idm emails and on clients hosted on their servers.

A forum member also tried to email them in June and they never replied. This is not an ambitious and straight forward behaviour. This is a "little shop" behaviour.

Also, for the moment, I never heard of a VISP customer ever... Because their service was not really public and almost secret I suppose... I hope visp broadband users will post messages here to tell us what they think, so we can have some kind of proof that VISP is a real ISP... and not just a beautiful promise :?

(If you want to talk about your experience with VISP & other Lebanese ISP's, please post your messages in the right forum thread.)

Dear Murex,

I would feel more comfortable to send you this e-mail on private, but since your e-mail is not included in your profile (As you have noted, I have always included my e-mail and MSN. Fair and decent people do not need to hide) I am forced to post here.

1. Please, do not bother sending us any e-mails. We will not read them. Due to your hostile actions against our company our management has decided that you are not welcome to be our customer. We do not need people like you among our customers. How many customers we have is not your concern at all. Even if we have merely two, we do not need you to be the third.

2. Our spam filter is not set too high. Our regular customers can always contact us in at least two different ways.

3. Your words about VISP getting Internet from Turkey and Cyprus DSL accounts via 200km wireless antenna can make us feel sorry for your networking illiteracy.

4. Whatever VISP is --> a fish shop, a bar, a good or bad promise has no concern to you.
Please note that in case we notice that you have subscribed to VISP services directly our via some reseller, your account shall be suspended and your funds - returned.

5. VISP rarely sells directly to individuals. We have a strong reseller network and if you have provided enough details our sales managers will forward your e-mail to the appropriate reseller.

6. The way act is our company policy. I will not discuss if it is good or bad. If you do not like it - do not bother with us, leave us to suffer from our wrong company policy. We have enough customers to choose wether to reply to someone or not.

Hope this is the last time you discuss VISP and we (personally me) - to be obliged to reply to your non-senses.

Thank you for your understanding!

P.S. I am not Ukrainian.

P.P.S. Internet in Turkey is not cheaper than in Lebanon. Only in the European part of Turkey you can find decent Internet services.

Playing...

Post by murex »

I have more sympathy towards you than you think. There is no hostility from my side. I play a role here... I role of the little asshole... And this is a way to provoke you a little & push you out, so you (ISPs) express yourself: I assume some stuff, so that you can come & correct me... so that in the end, the people know the truth... otherwise I would NOT post in a public forum, but just publish "articles"...

I know you (or people in contact with) are reading this forum. And palpoule's message even sounded like an advertising. So I quickly replied, hoping you'd make a little move, & correct me where I am wrong.
Fair and decent people do not need to hide
To contact me in private, why can't you send a private message though this forum? I don't see the point of NOT hiding. Because, maybe we already know each other and I like you... This "murex" is not "me"... Again, this is the dirty role of the typical "picky & stupid" consumer who wants companies to respond properly.
Due to your hostile actions against our company our management has decided that you are not welcome to be our customer
I do not wish to become your customer, thank you. And you could not help me anyway because I don't live in your area and I am not a reseller... And since you don't know me, you will never know if I subscribe anyway. And I can even represent myself and open 10 accounts through friends without you knowing me anyway.
Our spam filter is not set too high. Our regular customers can always contact us in at least two different ways
OH YES IT IS! Please trust me, for your own good! I am 100% sure of this!... People who are already your customer might be able to contact you, I am sure of that... BUT MOST POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS CANNOT CONTACT YOU "FOR THE FIRST TIME" BY EMAIL if you don't lower your spam filter...

Better idea: to avoid spam, you should change the public addresses displayed on your contact page, and install a simple contact form with a hidden email... and then you can lower or even remove your spam filter...

And it is VERY TRUE that you don't communicate with potential customers by email. You mostly never answer or when you do, you push them to come to your office & discuss privately instead of answering their pre-sale questions.
Your words about VISP getting Internet from Turkey and Cyprus DSL accounts via 200km wireless antenna can make us feel sorry for your networking illiteracy.
I never confirmed that info!!! I have no real clue and I am indeed illiterate in networking! I just suggested something to see what u & other people can say about it... I like to learn... And people who visit this forum also... I know VISP is managed by GLOBALPROOF & uses some satellite stuff... And I think that there is some things in your settings that is related to Cyprus... But I don't know really... And I understood that Globaproof already sells to resellers... so what's the use of VISP on top of Globalproof then, if it's mainly B2B...

All the point of my "stupid suggestions" is to correct the false ones & teach us more about your technology. (Otherwise, people will have reasons to believe my "false" suggestions... which are just hopelessly covering your lack of communication...)
Please note that in case we notice that you have subscribed to VISP services directly our via some reseller, your account shall be suspended and your funds - returned.
Search well... Hope you have fun...
VISP rarely sells directly to individuals. We have a strong reseller network and if you have provided enough details our sales managers will forward your e-mail to the appropriate reseller.
Oh thank you for this nice & clear sentence. I wish you spoke so transparently all the time... You should insert it on your website somewhere, unless it is already done... This point explains very well - but doesn't excuse - your "bad" attitude towards new individual customers who contact you by email.
The way act is our company policy. I will not discuss if it is good or bad. If you do not like it - do not bother with us, leave us to suffer from our wrong company policy. We have enough customers to choose wether to reply to someone or not.
OH YES, I will bother with you as much as needed and even send a few spies deep inside all of your little asses... :-)

Lebanese companies are too spoiled... In this small country, there are NO consumers groups! All the companies are used to face NO opposition or critic AT ALL... They can sell & do all the shit they want... When their image drops a bit, they do a bit of advertising once in a while and that's it... FORUMS LIKE THIS FORUM ENCOURAGE CONSUMERS & COMPANIES TO BE MORE TRANSPARENT... Because, the more "obscure" they play, the more this forum works like a CRAZY TRAP where they get caught... And the more they move "against" it, the more they are forced to drown into their own shit... and cover their reputation with dirt... Unless they stop fighting stupidly with denials & typical "company" language...
P.S. I am not Ukrainian.
Are u nuts? Where did I say that? I guess you're from Russia... But it doesn't matter where you're from, does it?
Internet in Turkey is not cheaper than in Lebanon. Only in the European part of Turkey you can find decent Internet services.
Oh... Good to know... (One time, a guy contacted me from Lebanon with a Turkey IP... He used some kind of satellite... I wonder why he (or his provider) chose Turkey instead of Cyprus.)

Halt! No more fighting ok?

Btw, I was not doing an advertisement for VISP, and neither am I part of the VISP team. I just play on VZone and thought I could encourage more players to join the ever growing VISP community and play online, free of charge!

Do not provoke us, we are not succeptible to provocations. This is our right on decision where, when and how to express ourselves. There are maybe more than hundred of people like you thinking different things about VISP. We do not have the time and the wish to correct them all.

Palpoule is a customer of a reseller of ours. We can not influence his words.
If he was a VISP employee - then yes.

And no - we do not know each other.

VISP is NOT MANAGED by GlobalProof. GlobalProof is a separate company for network solutions, system integration and development. Separate budget, separate (partly) personnel, separate management. It was decided to split apart Internet delivery from system integration. GlobalProof does not deliver satellite Internet for long, long time ago (we will remove the satellite topic soon). If tomorrow VISP decide to sell second-hand PCs, another company will shall be opened.

And we have no intention to explain every single detail of our network structure. As you will see later in your life - 95% of the ISP worldwide think and behave in the very same manner.

There is competitorship on the market. We do not hold any monopoly. For the monopoly we hold (like the game servers) - we open it free to all other ISP in order to avoid the monopoly. So, pls stop talking about consumer groups, customer rights and etc. There are more than 10 legal ISPs and maybe 30 illegal, for a country of 3 million.

There is NO TRAP. Every ISP offer a dial-up at least. Go test it. If their dial-up is crap, do not expect their broadband to be much, much better. You can connect to some ISP, then if you do not like it - change it.

Trust me, when you connect with an ISP, this is NOT A PURE CATHOLIC MARRIAGE for your whole life.

I am not from Russia neither. I am closer to Lebanon than to Russia.

People can use proxies/socks and tunnels to hide their IPs. Ask on IRC how, if you are still curious.

And one last thing --> our DSL service is NOT expensive. The expensive part is the one you pay to the PTT (Ogero) for the phone leased line. We are not Ogero, we are not the Lebanese government. Neither we have any relative working neither in Ogero, nor in the government. So we have no way to influence on the copper leased line prices.

The price you pay to VISP is not expensive at all. And gosh, this is ADSL2+ what we offer, not a regular ADSL. Go read on the differencies.

And we have many customers. ADSL we sell only direct. If you are soo keen on what ADSL is and if there are any customers, I can ask the CEO to arrange for you a short view on the NOC where the DSL concentrator is. You will see the slots used by the customer. You can even turn off a random slot and in 5min an angry customer will call on the line.

Then go to Ogero or any other ISP bragging about ADSL and ask them for the same favour. But be assured - they will show you nothing.

Dear trash, since all Lebanese ISPs (including us) are trash - be so gentle to stay clean and away from the trash.

That is what I can tell you, not - come to our office.

And usually we do not speak with these who we hate. I would recommend the same to you.

hey teodor, i know that we're getting way away from the topic in here but
i know and i'm pretty sure that you also know that all those services, the so-called "Wireless broadband" that are offered by ISP's are trash, we all know that they are way too slow and yet expensive, i know the governement & GDS and whoever responsible want it that way and its not actually ISP's fault, but the reason i hate ISPs and think they are trash is only because they seem happy about the situation, they are happy because they are earning this huge amount of money and they don't even want to talk to the governement about increasing bandwidth and speed......

Trash,

if your eyes had some connection with your brain... you would see that we at VISP do a lot.

1. the first case of FREE dial-up in Lebanon. And 56Kbps, not 33,600.
And this can not be found in any of the surrounding countries - Syria, Iraq, Iran, Saudi, Turkey, Kuwait.

2. The first gaming network in Lebanon. I would spare to tell you how much money and efforts we invested in this. But I would not spare to tell you that the network is free not only for VISP customers. We made it free to several other ISPs. See when another ISP in Lebanon will offer a free service and O GOD, will offer it to their potential competitors... NEVER, poor little boy, NEVER is the right answer.

3. We started the first DSL installations. We saw that waiting for the government to do something is like waiting for the dead men to return from the wars. So we started on our own. Do not ask us how much this investment cost us. And it is not our fault that Ogero asks for apprx $800 installation fee. They have a website, a phone, an office. Go there and complain if you are a brave man. Hiding on the forums is all what you can do?

So, if you are going to put us on the same page as others, the only thing I can tell you is to bite the wood.

Let me tell it to you in your own words -> trash goes to trash. Trash customers deserve trash ISPs.

Ok cool, now thanks to me (& Trash), THE PEOPLE have more info about VISP! And it looks good... And the more you make happy PALPOULE's, the more they'll sing your name & better the world will be.

Theodor your language is heavy and you have a very naive attitude... "Trash" is cool and his name and attitude is just provocative. You are obviously too stiff... You should have more HUMOUR...

It is VERY clear for all that all the Internet problems come from the government (through Ogero). In my opinion our government have been committing a huge crime on its people and economy by blocking the DSL for years. I hope one day they'll open an inquiry at the UN to find the TRUTH and bring the assholes to justice, judge them, sodomize them by horses, and then hang them. (But that's my personal opinion.)

Nevertheless, "All Lebanese ISP are Trash"... That's a fucking fact. They even SPAM like viagra rats (IDM, TERRANET), although they seem to have learnt their lesson lately. We'll see... And we can only be HAPPY that VISP is doing what VISP is doing to try to proove that this RULE is wrong, and that VISP is not trash! I am all ready half-convinced. And the more I'll meet real happy customers (in real), the more I'll believe it.

1- About the VISP free dial up, the speed is fine, but all the people I know have reported frequent cuts, and they have been unable to use it seriously. It is a GREAT tool as a back up. It is NOT as good as Terranet's paid 56k dial up. NOT AT ALL. But who can complain? This is a great move from VISP and I am sure it has and will continue to have a good effect on the popularity of the company.

2- This GAME SERVER thing is an amazing thing. You should get a special price for developing game servers in this shit hole (Lebanon). I am sure this investment on your part will pay off on the long term.

3- VISP is a hero maybe... Ogero sucks, we agree... But let people HIDE WHERE THEY WANT TO HIDE! What would be the point for Trash to tell you that his name is Ali or Charbel? Just do your ISP job darling, and smile to the people (force yourself). You represent your company. Trash represents himself as a critical "negative" potential customer. The day he gets a good connexion is his ass, he'll change his name to Flower... If I were you, I'd open my legs very wide and I'd be nice like a professional whore to push him to become my customer. (But that's my personal opinion.)
